One example of a famous illusion would have to be a representation of how your mind adapts to information. If you don’t get what i mean, just look at the illusion below.

Read the text left to right section first. Now read the vertical section.
When I tested this illusion on others the most common responses were horizontal: A B C, and vertical: 12, 13, 14
So we come to a question, what does it say in the center? 13 or B? The fact is, it’s both. When you read the horizontal text your mind notices that you are reading letters so you assume that it is A, B, C. When you read the text vertically, your mind realizes that you are looking at numbers, so you assume that the image in the center is of the number 13.

It looks to me more like a “B”, because it’s the same size as the other letters, not numbers. To make it more of an illusion, if I were you, I would make them both the same size. But it’s still very interesting and I get what you are getting at. =]
